Terms of use
These terms govern your use of Breaking SQL on breakingsql.com (the “service”). Free use and paid subscriptions are all covered. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What this is — and is not
Breaking SQL is an informational software tool. It may rewrite SQL, expand aliases, guess indexes and DDL, run an optimizer, and show error articles. That output is generated automatically. It is not professional database administration, production advice, a code audit, or a guarantee that a statement is safe, correct, or fast on your system.
Your risk
You use the service at your own risk. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and deciding whether to run, apply, or rely on anything the service generates — including SQL, aliases, indexes, DDL, plans, and articles. Output can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, unsafe, or destructive. Do not paste generated SQL into production without your own review.
No warranty
The service is provided AS IS and AS AVAILABLE, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or uninterrupted availability. We may change, throttle, or stop features without notice.
Release
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable United States law, you release, hold harmless, defend, and indemnify the operator of this site and its contractors and affiliates from any claim, loss, cost, liability, or damage (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of this site, anything generated for you here, your queries or error text, your subscription, or your failure to review output before you use it.
Limitation of liability
The operator of this site is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, downtime, bad query plans, or corrupted databases, even if advised of the possibility. If some liability cannot be excluded, total liability for this product is limited to the fees you paid for Breaking SQL in the three months before the claim, or nine US dollars, whichever is greater.
Cookies
This site uses a session cookie so this browser can remember your plan and that you agreed to these Terms. It does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. The extra cookie-consent rules that cover those kinds of cookies do not apply here. You may still record that you are fine with the session cookie; that record is optional.
Paid plans
A paid plan only raises usage limits. It does not add a warranty, SLA, or professional duty. Subscribing requires that you check the box confirming these terms. Checking that box is your electronic signature that you understand and agree.
Acceptance
Using the service (loading the site, rewriting a query, looking up an error, or subscribing) is acceptance of these terms. United States law governs, excluding conflict-of-law rules. If a court strikes one part, the rest still applies.
